OMIS which we have developed with new generation web technologies, brings many innovations in its field with it. Our system improved with service oriented architecture, has been designed in compliance with Smart City concept where different corporations may work as a whole and which is completely open to integration within corporations and between corporations.
OMIS Management Information System is completely a parametric system. Functions in applications are not working with fixed variables, but with parameters. Consequently each corporation working on the same system can actualise applications special for them without changing codes, by small changes on parameters. This structure provides each corporation to use automation system prepared especially for them.
Our Company’s long studies and experience have indicated that present municipality automation systems can not fulfill the needs of Turkey Municipalities. For fulfillment of the needs of Turkey Municipalities; usage of an automation system, which is web based, completely parametric, developed by using service architecture, completely integrated, document based, bringing rapid solutions to design problems, and most importantly which can understand the language of its user and public, is required. Real solution that will fulfill this need is our new project that we have developed; OMIS.
Corporations’ requirements are changing and expanding every day. The way to fulfill these requirements continuously is a parametric system. By courtesy of this system corporation may fulfill its own needs by adjusting different parameters according to its needs.
In governmental agencies all transactions are performed corresponding official documents. Thus document based design shall be a target design not only for municipality but for all governmental agencies. Its working principle, in a basic way, can be explained as keeping scanned copy of each document corresponded with its digital version. As a result of this transaction corporation’s digital archieve is contributed and time loss of clerks in works like searching document is prevented.
One of the problems in software part is the occured faults. These faults usually are not seen by user or may be ignored. Worse user may not obtain support as information for solution of the fault. Fault notification system which we have inserted in OMIS for solution of these problems, reports system situation and information related to the fault automatically to our system without need to contact the user. Received reports are assessed quickly and solved even without being known by the user. By virtue of this method we provide solutions to problems that corporations encounter in the fastest way.
First of the priorities of a good automation system is multiple access and maintenance easiness. Multiple access is providing access to automation system only by virtue of programmes that we call browser which is used for displaying web page, inside or outside the corporation.
Although there are many alternative methods for this access the most rapid and healthy access method is web based access. Web based access is secure by using SSL and rapid by using http compressing or caching method. Second benefit that a web based system provides us is maintenance ease and working of data processing personnel without needing to install any software.
OMIS is an automation product which is designed for serving internationally. For the purpose of using a version specialised for every region, multiple language support is present. With its dynamic structure every user can use OMIS in language they prefer. While a user using the same system uses the system in Turkish, another municipality worker, citizen or tourist may actualise their transactions in any language they desire.
Service based architecture is important in terms of its ability of both giving healthy results and providing an architecture which can be changed or improved by corporation when needed. This architecture simultaneously provides easiness in out of company integrations like e-state and it can be opened to outside through web services by being authorisation based when desired. Modularity provided by this service architecture procures a very flexible structure. For example when user names and password are desired to be kept on a Idap or domain server or when service provider used for sms has changed, the only thing to be done is to activate the service.
